Ever wonder how we celebrate our Queen’s birthday? Well we do it with a public holiday, an award ceremony, an annual parade and a traditional garden party at the Governor’s House!
This Monday June 15th is the official Queen’s birthday and public holiday in the Cayman Islands, and as a British Overseas Territory, the Cayman Islands is celebrating the Queen’s 89 birthday.
In celebration of her big day, this Saturday the 13th of June the Cayman Islands will have the annual award ceremonyreception in front of the Legislative Assembly building in the capital, George Town. Starting at 8.30am, we will honor those who have made a notable contribution to the Cayman Islands, followed by The Queen’s Parade and then the traditional Garden Party runs from 10am until 12:00pm by the Government House. It will be a fun full day with lots of excitement and entertainment to see, so come out and enjoy the fun and witness this monumental amazing day. Then relax on Monday!
Fun fact – although her official birthday is celebrated on a range of dates in the different countries of the Commonwealth of Nations, the Queen’s actual birthday is April 21st.
