Arborist

Description

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working near energized powerlines, using hydraulic tools, gas-powered saws, and various hand tools. You should be comfortable working in challenging environments such as traffic-heavy areas, rugged terrains, and extreme vegetation conditions. Strong communication skills and a commitment to health and safety protocols are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely trim and remove vegetation around powerlines using bucket trucks and mechanical tools.
• Climb trees using climbing gear to perform tree maintenance when necessary.
• Operate and maintain hydraulic tools, gas-powered saws, and other hand tools.
• Work effectively in high-traffic areas and challenging terrains.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines at all times.
• Communicate effectively with team members and customers.

Minimum Requirements:

• Proficient in using gas-powered machines and tools such as chainsaws, brush cutters, and pruners.
• Strong knowledge of tree species, cutting techniques, tree pruning, and felling methods.
• Ability to work independently and stay motivated without direct supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering high-quality work.
• Comfortable using technology and electronic devices for work-related tasks.

Education & Experience:

• Associate’s degree in Vegetation Management, Arboriculture, or a related technical field (preferred).
• ISA, UAA, or other reputable Arborist Certification (or working toward one).
• Current Line Clearance Certification or similar accreditation.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Arborist, working near overhead Transmission & Distribution powerlines.
• Valid driver’s license up to Group 4.

Salary ranges from US$60,000 – 70,000.
