CSA Engineer
Description
The CSA (Civils, Structural, Architectural) Construction Engineer is responsible for managing contracts and purchase orders valued up to US$5 million, ensuring the achievement of safety, budget, schedule, profit, and quality objectives. This role focuses on contract administration, change management, construction reviews, procurement, and cost control. The engineer will also gain experience in design coordination, LEED documentation, and construction closeout while ensuring all project goals are met efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee communication with the design team, contractors, vendors, regulatory agencies, and support service providers.
- Develop a thorough understanding of contract documents, scope inclusions, exclusions, deliverables, rights, and remedies.
- Perform contract administration tasks, including managing change orders, quality control, and scheduling.
- Attend contractor initiation meetings and assist with LEED documentation and administration.
- Expedite responses to RFIs and review submittals as required.
- Manage closeout processes for assigned contracts and purchase orders.
- Participate in design and constructability reviews to improve knowledge of implementation.
- Interpret design documents to identify errors and offer value engineering solutions.
- Ensure compliance with HSE programs and actively participate in safety audits and reviews.
- Work with procurement teams to understand the buyout and contracting strategy and assist in the RFP/bid process.
- Participate in bid package development and final contract negotiations.
- Develop an understanding of project cost control, including cost forecasts and risks associated with contracts.
- Assist in soliciting responses and negotiating change orders, ensuring adherence to change management procedures.
- Monitor contractor/vendor pay applications and ensure compliance with payment terms to avoid overpayments.
- Assist in the development and review of schedules and support schedule mitigation efforts as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant project execution experience.
- Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating with design consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Strong background in fostering a culture of safety on projects.
- Experience in project startup, design coordination, testing, commissioning, and closeout.
- Proficient in commercial project controls, cost management, and change management.
- Solid contract administration skills with a focus on schedule development and evaluation.
- Knowledge of LEED procedures and experience with LEED certification and documentation.
