Legal and Regulatory Counsel

SteppingStones is working on behalf of our client to assist them in sourcing a Legal and Regulatory Counsel to join their team.

The Legal and Regulatory Counsel will be responsible for advising management on a wide range of legal and regulatory issues to ensure that the organization is operating within the legal and regulatory frameworks. The role also includes drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of transactional documents and commercial contracts while proactively managing mitigating the risk of litigation. The successful candidate will advise the HR department regarding all aspects of employment and Labour law and will provide corporate administrative services by ensuring compliance with local laws and government filings.

We are looking for a candidate with superior contract drafting, written and verbal communication skills, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to pragmatically evaluate and determine the appropriate legal course of action. This role requires excellent leadership, personnel management, and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence with credibility, analysis and judgment. Technological proficiency is required with specific experience using Microsoft Office software.

Requirements:

  • A University Degree in Law with a license to practice law in Cayman, USA, Canada, or UK
  • 6+ years of legal practice in a law firm or in-house corporate law department
  • Strong legal expertise in a full range of corporate/commercial matters
  • Some legal expertise in technology and telecommunications desirable
