SteppingStones is working on behalf of our client to assist them in sourcing a Reinsurance Accountant to join their Cayman based reinsurance team.
The Reinsurance Accountant will be responsible for reviewing and reconciling cession reporting for reinsurance contracts, resolving any differences, including reviewing all data entered into the reinsurance system. The role will include maintain and reconciling reinsurance receivables and payables, liaising with brokers and other intermediaries as required. The successful candidate will perform the monthly close process supporting the Finances team with financial statement preparation, regulatory and other reporting in accordance with US statutory / IFRS requirements and will run monthly and quarterly analytic reports. The Reinsurance Accountant will carry out forecasting, planning, and assisting with budget preparations.
We are looking for a candidate that has a prior working knowledge within the Life & Annuity Reinsurance or Insurance Industry. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and has the ability to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision. The role requires technological proficiency and experience using Microsoft Excel and Word. This role will be fast-paced and will require the ability to adhere to strict deadlines and manage workload appropriately. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills are a must.
- An accounting qualification from a recognized accounting body (CA, CGA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, OR CMA)
- A Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or economics
- 3+ years of experience in the financial services industry
