Reinsurance Analyst
Description
On behalf of our client, we are currently recruiting for a Reinsurance Analyst. The successful candidate will report into and work closely with the Reinsurance Accountant. Full details on the responsibilities and requirements are outlined below:
Responsibilities:
- Receive and quality check required reports, documentation and requests received from cedents.
- Maintain logs as required by management to track progress and activity.
- Administer reinsurance and retro accounts in management information systems: initial set up, changes and terminations within designated time requirements in co-ordination with appropriate teams
- Perform various control checks (data feeds, system close, etc.) and other internal control processes
- Coordinate with Accounting/Treasury to process payments to/from reinsurers and retro recipients.
- Manage outstanding receivables, payables and deficiencies.
- Provide Accounting/Finance/Valuations Teams required information to support regulatory, reserving and financial reporting.
- Address ad hoc requests, such as audit requests and assist in other special projects as required.
- Run monthly and quarterly contract analytic reports for management and review for data accuracy.
- Work closely with the actuarial team to understand cedent risk profiles and reinsurance treaty structures to aid in reviewing/preparing cession statements.

Requirements:
- An accounting qualification from a recognized accounting body (e.g. CA, CGA, CPA, ACA, ACCA or CMA).
- Bachelors degree in finance, accounting or economics
- A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in the financial services industry.
- Prior working knowledge within the Life & Annuity Reinsurance or Insurance industry.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to reliably process workload and adhere to deadlines.
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- Self motivation and the ability to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision.
- A post-secondary degree in a finance related field.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
