Christmas traditions for everyone

It is that time of year again when the Christmas decorations go up, along with the balance on your credit card! In the midst of the rush to finish that last assignment and shop for gifts and party supplies before the big day, it can be very easy to lose sight of one important aspect of the celebrations, namely the traditions that bring us closer together and that often cost nothing at all.  Why not make time for your traditions this season or even start some new ones?

Here are some ideas to get you started:

Make decorating the tree a special event for the whole family complete with Christmas music, hot chocolate and lots of desert! Apple pie ala mode anyone?

Get together to make a new Christmas decoration for each family member each year! You can be as creative as you like and you won’t need to buy decorations!

Camp out indoors in front of your sparkling tree, read or tell stories and don’t forget the snacks!

Engage in a community service as a family, the kids will really appreciate their gifts on Christmas morning!

Bake cookies or other treats together and drop them off to your neighbors!

Sykpe with extended family members or friends that you haven’t seen in a while, share the Christmas spirit!

Start a Christmas Elf tradition, where each family member either buys or donates a small gift or personal possession in condition to someone in need!

Have a get together to brainstorm new traditions!

Get together with your friends to do any of the above!

Merry Christmas and good luck with starting your new traditions today!
