It’s an age old term that we hear time and time again: ‘do one thing every day that scares you’. Now personally I think that every day is a little extreme, maybe one thing a week, even one thing a month is still impressive. But that’s beside the point. Recently there have been a number of challenges that I have been presented with that have made me feel slightly anxious and have taken me out of my comfort zone – not a place that I thought I particularly loved to go too often. When I questioned why I was doing these things that scared me, I was told ‘because it will make you a stronger person.’ My immediate reaction was to question why I need to be a stronger person!
However having now conquered some (not all) of my “scary things” I have realized more than ever that everyone can always be stronger, everyone can always challenge themselves and better themselves and it won’t just make you a stronger person, it will make you wiser, more confident, more passionate, more alive. And why would you ever shy away from those feelings.
So whether it’s your home life or your work life, personal or professional, I challenge you to do that thing that scares you, push the limits of who you think you are and what you think you are capable of, and I guarantee you will feel great for it.
