For many years SteppingStones operated solely out of the Cayman Islands, building our reputation and our team of experts in order to service a diverse range of amazing loyal clients and candidates. Having achieved a humbling level of success on the island, in 2018 SteppingStones officially launched our UK office and are now incredibly proud to be a global organization.
With employees in both Cayman and the UK, our UK office focuses largely on other offshore jurisdictions in and around Europe and predominantly operates within the financial services and legal industries.
For the Cayman office although the roles we work on are predominantly based in Grand Cayman, we are lucky enough to work on a number of vacancies across the wider Caribbean region when the needs arise. Positions in BVI, Bahamas, and Turks & Caicos have all been within our repertoire across the years.
On the other side of the globe economies are thriving in jurisdictions such as the Channel Islands, Dublin, Isle of Man, Luxembourg, and London. We work on a broad remit of positions ranging from Fund Manager roles, to Corporate and Trust Officers, Legal Secretaries across all disciplines, and Associate Attorneys at varying degrees of seniority.
Back in the Cayman office we have found that the job market is evolving to reflect the trends we are seeing across the development taking place here. As development continues to increase across the island so now does the need for experienced Construction workers including Project Managers, Architects, specialized Engineers and Technicians. Similarly the ever growing tourism market means that within the Hospitality sector we have an ongoing need for Restaurant Managers, Maintenance Managers, General Managers and Reservations staff.
Within the Financial Services sector it remains business as usual in the sense that business is busy. But the consistently changing regulatory framework means Compliance roles are in constant demand in addition to Regulatory Lawyers on the Legal side, and AML, MLRO and Risk Professionals are in demand.
The rise of the FinTech industry amidst the world of crypto-currencies and blockchain mean that Technology is another area of growth in both Cayman and the wider global market. Our clients are looking for experienced Software Developers as well as knowledgeable Cyber Security professionals, Systems Engineers, and Analysts at all levels.
As with all industries and jurisdictions, the qualifications and experience are vital in playing the part of whether you will be successful in securing a role. The nature of the roles that SteppingStones’ specialize in mean that for the most part professionally recognized qualifications are essential. For example, to secure an Accounting position we need applicants to have a professional accounting designation such as the CA, CPA, ACCA. To secure an Associate Attorney position we need candidates to have a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience having been called to the Bar in a commonwealth jurisdiction.
However these rules are not hard and fast. We also have a high number of vacancies at more of an entry level that simply require a lesser amount of experience and a greater amount of the right attitude. In the Cayman Islands specifically we have a plethora of roles operating as an Accounts Assistant, a Marketing Coordinator, and Admin Assistant, Junior IT support etc.
