Buyer - Grocery Purchasing and Procurement

Description

Our client is  seeking a dedicated Grocery Purchasing Specialist to join their team and play a crucial role in ensuring shelves are stocked with high-quality products at competitive prices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and purchase grocery products, maintaining optimal stock levels to meet customer demand.
  • Keep accurate records of purchases, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventory levels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating for the best pricing and contract terms.
  • Stay ahead of market trends to anticipate customer needs and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and lead initiatives for continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with merchandising, marketing, and operations teams to drive business success.
  • Conduct regular aisle walks with Grocery Team Leaders to ensure product presentation and stock levels are on point.
  • Engage in category management exercises to strategically introduce new items.
  • Present new products to the Buyers’ Council for evaluation and approval.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the team’s goals.

  • Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in the grocery industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build effective supplier partnerships.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven purchasing decisions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing market dynamics.
